Membership Types
Active Open Members (Senior Lifeguard)
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Hold the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award
- b) Are 19 years of age or older as at 1 October in the year of application
- c) Are available and agree to voluntarily perform patrol duties for the Club.
Active Open Members Competitive (Senior Lifeguard Competitive)
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Hold the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award
- b) Are 19 years of age or older as at 1 October in the year of application
- c) Are available and agree to voluntarily perform patrol duties for the Club and
- d) Are available and wish to compete for the Club in Surf Life Saving Competitions and events.
Active Under 19 Members (Junior Lifeguard)
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Hold the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award
- b) Are no younger than 14 years of age and no older than 18 years of age as at 1 October in the year of application.
- c) Are available and agree to voluntarily perform patrol duties for the club.
Active Under 19 Members Competitive (Junior Lifeguard)
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Hold the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award
- b) Are no younger than 14 years of age and no older than 18 years of age as at 1 October in the year of application.
- c) Are available and agree to voluntarily perform patrol duties for the club.
- d) Are available and wish to compete for the Club in Surf Life Saving Competitions and Events.
Master Competitive
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Hold the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award
- b) Have refreshed their SLSNZ qualifications
- c) Are 32 years of age or older as at 1 October in the year of application
- d) Are available and agree to voluntarily perform three patrols for the Club on an ad hoc and non-rostered basis
- e) Are available and wish to compete for the Club in the Masters category only at Surf Lifesaving Competitions and Events.
Junior Surf Members (Nippers)
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Are younger than 14 years of age as at 1 October in the year of application.
- b) Aspire to perform patrol duties and / or compete for the Club in Surf Lifesaving Competitions and Events and
- c) Wish to support and be involved and interested in the club.
This membership entitles the adult to attend courses provided by Northern Region and also ensures that they are covered by SLSNZ indemnity insurance whilst participating in club activities.
Associate Members
Male and female individuals who:
- a) Do not hold the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award
- b) Wish to support and be involved and interested in the Club and pay the membership fee.
Officers and Appointed Personnel
The Officers of the Club and any Appointed Personnel of the Club shall be members upon their election or appointment to such a position.
Life Members
Male and female individuals who are granted Life Membership of the Club under Rule 7 of the constitution of the Club, for outstanding contribution or service to Surf Lifesaving or the Club. No annual subscription is payable.
Honorary Members
Male and female individuals who shall be appointed from time to time by the Management Committee or at any General Meeting, and who shall be entitled to the rights and privileges of members but shall not be liable to pay annual subscriptions to the Club.
Senior Club Family Membership
This membership category is open to families involved in the Senior Club and covers all members whether they be active or competitive members.
Junior Club Family Membership
This membership category is open to families involved in the Junior Surf Section (Nippers) of the Club. It includes all children and parents who may or may not be non-competitive lifeguards. Those parents involved in the club in the following areas: surf officials, surf coaches, managers of teams must enroll in this category which then entitles them to attend courses provided by Northern Region and also ensures that they are covered by SLSNZ indemnity insurance.
Dual Membership
Where an individual elects to have dual membership the following membership fees will be a applied:
- Competitive Member – Member is competing for Muriwai. This is a primary membership and thus the individual is liable to pay the relevant competitive fee.
- Active Lifeguard – Member is patrolling for Muriwai. This individual is liable for the relevant Active Patrolling Membership Fee.
- Non Competitor or Patrolling Member for Muriwai – This individual is liable for the Associate Membership Fee which entitles them to use the facilities.
