Club Gear
Policy on Club Sponsored Competition Gear
From time to time and upon Application, the Club will make available money for the purchase of new competition gear to selected personnel. The basis of this sponsorship may vary but will normally be up to 50% of the cost of the equipment.
- To be eligible for this funding the recipient must demonstrate the following criteria:
- Be a fully financial Member of the Club.
- Fulfil satisfactory patrolling duties and have at least one full season of patrolling experience.
- Attend Club training and coaching sessions under the guidance of the club coaching staff, to their satisfaction.
- Must have demonstrated their ability at a competitive level against their peers.
- Demonstrate a willingness to participate in the non-competitive activities of the Club.
Should the Club sponsor such a purchase, it is made on the following basis:
- The equipment is for the exclusive use of the person to whom it is allocated.
- All decisions as to its use shall be the sole right of the person to whom it is allocated.
- The equipment shall be maintained by the recipient as near to an “as new condition as possible. The Member is to attend to its regular daily maintenance.
- It shall be safely housed when not in use.
- Any repairs required by the equipment shall be carried out at the expense of the Member except if the repairs have resulted from an accident on land, in which case the Club's insurance should be used to activate repairs.
- Should the Member wish to cease using the equipment for any reason it shall be returned to the Club for re-allocation and the Member ceases to have any interest in the gear, including a financial one.
- The Member shall use the gear on all occasions for which Competition is offered by Surf Lifesaving Northern Region and other recognised Surf Carnivals unless legitimate reason is given to the Club Coach and exemption granted. The Member must attend scheduled Club Training Sessions.
- The Member shall retain the right to use the equipment for as long as he or she wishes to compete.
- Should any of the above conditions not be fulfilled, the gear may be forfeited and all rights to its use by the recipient rescinded.
Implementation of the above policy will require members to make application to the Committee using a standard form that has been prepared. This form is available from the Gear Stewards (Trevor Matuschka/Clive Reynolds). Each application will be considered at the next Committee Meeting following receipt of the application.
Where a member has been able to identify a sponsorship opportunity through a funding body that requires the application to be made through the Club (e.g. Pub Charity) then the same conditions for the use of that gear as listed above shall apply, except that the members personal contribution to the cost of the equipment will be reduced as considered appropriate by the Committee. It is noted that gear that is obtained via sponsorship in this manner through the Club remains the property of the Club. Payment for such equipment should normally be made by the Club to satisfy the requirements of the funding bodies. Approval for such funding can take some time and until approval is obtained gear should not be ordered, unless the member is prepared to underwrite the cost of the gear should the funding application be declined.
Where a member receives new gear under this policy they will be required to complete a standard form acknowledging they have the gear and that they accept the conditions as outlined above.
